End of an Era 切れたコピーライト 〈了〉

In January of this year, the copyright for the Disney animated short Steamboat Willie, featuring Mickey Mouse, expired. Although the copyright for the version of Mickey featured in Steamboat Willy has expired, the trademark protection for Mickey Mouse as an entity has not expired and is expected to continue ad infinitum. Therefore, in celebration (?) I have drawn my version of “Public Domain Mickey Mouse”.

今年1月、初代「ミッキーマウス」が登場する米ウォルト・ディズニーの短編アニメ『蒸気船ウィリー』 (1928) の著作権が切れました。ウィリーに登場するミッキーの著作権は切れましたが、「ミッキーマウス」にまつわるさまざまな商標権は切れておらず、ディズニー社が更新を怠らなければ永久に続き保護されると思われます。そこで、お祝いに (？) 「パブリックドメイン・ミッキーマウス」を描いてみました。
