Okinawa Christmas 沖縄クリスマス

During a recent visit to Okinawa during the Christmas season, I noticed a scarcity of overt signs of Christmas. Moving through various areas of the main island, there were very few sales, product displays, or decorations dedicated to Christmas. There was, however, an abundance of naturally occurring plants in red and green colors, and the clear night sky was filled with the glow of brilliant stars. It all added up to a very moving and spiritual experience.

今月、クリスマス・シーズンに沖縄本島のさまざまな地域を巡った際、“あからさまな”クリスマスの兆しが、ほとんどないことに気づきました。クリスマス・セールや商品の展示、装飾も比較的控えめ。
その代わり、赤や緑の天然のすばらしい植物が豊富にあり、夜空を見上げれば多くの星が輝き、とても気持ち良いなぁと感じました。
みなさんに沖縄風のナチュラルなクリスマスを、提案したいと思います。
